December 18, 2023

On October 26, 2014, in Rzeszow, a ceremony took place during which the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Development, Zbigniew Rynasiewicz, officially opened the renovated section of the expanded road junction at al. Wyzwolenia – ul. Warszawska.

The expansion of the road junction at al. Wyzwolenia – ul. Warszawska was one of the strategic and largest road projects within the scope of ECM Group Polska S.A.’s supervision. The project was a comprehensive infrastructure and organizational endeavor in the field of urban transportation, encompassing aspects of road construction, rolling stock modernization, as well as a broad Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) program and vehicle traffic management and organization.

The objective of this investment, valued at over 63 million PLN, which involved expanding the section of al. Wyzwolenia by a length of 1140.42 meters and ul. Warszawska by a length of 580.19 meters, was to:

  • Improve road and pedestrian traffic safety.
  • Adapt the road surface to withstand a load of 115 kN/axle, using a surface resistant to rutting.
  • Adjust the geometric parameters and road levels, and modify the cross-section of the viaduct on ul. Warszawska to match the planned road cross-section and required load-bearing capacity.

Additionally, this investment includes: landslide protection measures along the “Przyrwa” stream and covering the “Przyrwa” stream for a 520-meter section, where an additional road lane will be located.

This stage of the investment was carried out as part of the project titled “Construction of an Integrated Public Transport System for the City of Rzeszow and the Surrounding Area,” co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Program for the Development of Eastern Poland 2007-2013. The total value of the entire project was over 331 million PLN.
